Which tryout should I attend? +
You should attend the tryout that corresponds with your birth year and desired level of play.
Can I attend multiple tryout sessions? +
Yes, your registration fee covers the player for both ECNL and Competitive tryouts.
What should I wear to tryouts? +
Please wear a white shirt, black shorts, and black socks for tryouts – no club/HS branding.
Do I need to attend both tryout days? +
No, it is not required to attend both tryout days but it is strongly encouraged.
How early should I arrive to tryouts? +
Please arrive 30-45 minutes before your scheduled start time to check in and warm up.
What if I want to tryout for an older age group? +
Attend your birth year's tryout and inform coaches of your interest in playing up.

How many times a week do players train and where? +
All teams train a minimum of 2 evenings per week throughout the year — either Monday + Wednesday or Tuesday + Thursday — at THPRD facilities.
Will we need to buy new uniforms? +
Yes, new uniforms will be required for our upcoming season.
Does the registration fee include tournament registrations? +
No, players will be responsible for paying tournament registration fees.
Why is there no 9-month program fee for high school players? +
The club streamlined pricing to maintain quality while keeping cost increases modest.
Do registration fees include travel expenses? +
No, all travel related expenses are separate from our registration fees.
Does Oregon Surf still offer Future Stars? +
We have combined our Future Stars program with our Development Academy.

How does joining Surf Nation benefit my player? +
The primary benefit is increased playing opportunities through tournaments and guest play.
Will players be given more opportunities to play? +
Yes, this is one of the huge benefits of aligning with Surf.
How does Surf Nation impact our coaching staff? +
Surf provides coaching curriculum and tools to support our entire coaching staff.
What is the Surf Player Pathway? +
It is a development track culminating in opportunities to play with talented players nationally.
When will players participate in Surf Select events? +
Right away — identification begins in summer and continues throughout the year.
Does Surf make club-related decisions? +
Surf provides the tools; the local club continues to run the club.
How is this different from the last rebrand? +
This is not simply a rebrand. This is a strategic partnership.
Will the teams change? +
Teams will only change per the outcome of tryouts, as normal.
Will Oregon Surf still have ECNL? +
Yes! We are excited about what this partnership will mean for ALL our players.
Will my coach change? +
The partnership will not directly drive coaching changes; assignments shift per normal tryout outcomes.
How will college coaches know about the change? +
The club will send letters and provide sample letters for player communication.
When does the shift to Surf officially start? +
The rebrand starts immediately; uniforms and registered team names update after the current season ends.
Will club fees go up? +
Fee increases will not be driven by our relationship with Surf.
Will the change increase our travel schedule? +
Yes and no — Competitive and Elite teams will gain optional opportunities for additional competition.
Will Oregon Surf retain non-profit status? +
Yes — Oregon Surf remains locally operated as a 501(c)(3).
How does this impact field space? +
Our partnership with Surf does not impact our current field space.
What does Surf get out of the partnership? +
Surf receives a fee from Oregon Surf to license the name, systems, and coaching curriculum.
Will current players be impacted? +
There is no change to the current team structure as a result of this announcement.
Will there be an opportunity to try on kits before ordering? +
Yes — after the tryout and registration process, opportunities will be provided.
How do players get picked for a Surf Select Team? +
Players are identified by regional coaches throughout the season, then advanced to national selection.
What is Surf's relationship with high school programs? +
Our partnership does not impact our current relationship with high school programming.
Is there a standardized coaching structure across all Surf teams? +
No mandate exists; Oregon Surf chooses which tools to implement.

Do I have to attend all ID sessions? +
No, you are not required to attend all sessions.
Do I have to be an Oregon Surf member to participate in ID Clinics? +
No — these clinics are open to all players from Oregon and Southwest Washington.
Must Oregon Surf members participate in ID Clinics for Surf Select consideration? +
No — all players within the club are eligible regardless of clinic attendance.
If selected for regional ID camp, will this impact my team schedule? +
No, we do not anticipate that Surf Select will interfere with your regular schedule.
How many players are selected for regional and national camps? +
We expect at least 2–4 players per age group for regional consideration.
